From us to you on Christmas

The 2008 running of the Sharpie 500 is among seven races nominated for the Race of the Year on RacingOne.com.
Of course, we’re partial but feel free to cast your vote now.
Carl Edwards grabbed the checkered flag in the classic night race as following the event’s final restart, he gave leader Kyle Busch the “Bristol bump-n-run.” The win marked Edwards sixth of the season.
In typical Bristol fashion, action continued on the track after the checkered flag waved. Busch, obviously upset with the passing tactic of Edwards, drove his car into the side of Edwards’ car on the cool down lap. Edwards joined the game of “tag” and returned a nudge to the No. 18 M&M’s Toyota.
In addition to some great side-by-side racing, the Sharpie 500 also featured it’s own version of “the big one” with a Lap 216 multi-car crash that had its share of Chase implications — in particular for Kasey Kahne.

ESPN.com’s Terry Blount touted Bristol Motor Speedway in a recent article geared toward adding some life to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards Banquet. The annual gala takes place Friday night at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York.
In addition to handing out checks and a championship trophy, Blount recommends adding a few categories including Best Race, Best Paint Scheme, Best Comeback and of course, Best Track. Blount lists his categories along with his nominees and winners.
About the Best Track, Blount writes…
Best Speedway in 2008
- Daytona International Speedway
- Richmond International Raceway
- Bristol Motor Speedway
And the winner is: Bristol.
Have track president Jeff Byrd accept the award with the two Cup winners from 2008 – Jeff Burton and Carl Edwards. The Rose Bowl of racing produced an exciting finish in the March event when Burton won in overtime. And the August night race had a bump-and-run move by Edwards to defeat Kyle Busch. Edwards said he was doing what Busch did to him in a Nationwide race, adding: “That’s the decision I made, and I’d do it again.”
Thanks for the nice plug Terry! READ THE FULL ARTICLE HERE.
